ABSTRACT
The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project
(CMMCP) and Blackstone Photonics report field collection comparison results
between our newly developed carbon dioxide bait and standard gas cylinders
sources. The new source combines an
electro-mechanical metering device with an environmentally safe, low cost,
non-hazardous chemical reaction to produce consistent and adjustable gas flow
rates. Mosquito collection numbers using
CDC traps suggest that the new baiting source could be an effective alternative
to conventional gas cylinders or dry ice sources.
