PESTICIDE
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM UPDATE
Gabrielle Sakolsky
ABSTRACT
The Northeastern Mosquito Control Association (NMCA) has
been a member of the EPA’s Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program (PESP)
under the auspices of the AMCAS since 2002.
In 2010, the AMCA submitted a new 5-year PESP strategy. The following environmental stewardship
activities were chosen for documentation and submission to the EPA: 1. source reduction and working with managers
of public lands, 2. training mosquito control workers, 3. mosquito and disease
surveillance, and 4. public
outreach. All members of NMCA are
considered active participants in this program. An annual report is used to
document how NMCA members have engaged in highlighted stewardship
activities. The survey forms used to
collect data for this report have been updated and simplified. NMCA members should be commended for their
continued participation in this program.
