ABSTRACT
The 2011 Arboviral season in Maine was extremely quiet. Mosquito collection ran from July 1 through
October 8. Collections came from 4
counties in Maine,
including 20 towns. A total of 771 pools
of mosquitoes were submitted for testing, with all pools testing negative for
arboviral infection. 2011 marks the
third year of Maine’s
Eastern Equine Encephalitis Serosurvey. So far positive serum has been collected in 13
of Maine’s 16
counties, with the positives occurring in deer, moose and wild turkeys. No humans have tested positive for West Nile
Virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, or Saint Louis Encephalitis
in 2011.
