ABSTRACT
The Northeastern
Mosquito Control Association
(NMCA) has been a member of the EPA’s Pesticide
Environmental Stewardship Program
(PESP) under the auspices of the AMCA since
2002. The following environmental stewardship
activities were chosen by the PESP committee for documentation and submission to the EPA:
1. source reduction and
working with managers of public lands, 2. training mosquito
control workers, 3. mosquito and disease surveillance,
and 4. public outreach. An annual survey is
sent out to all participants in this
program. In 2011, data was collected
from partners in 17 states. Results from data collected on each of these activities
quantify how they are being carried out by mosquito
control organizations across the United States. The more data collected the more accurate our
reporting will be. NMCA members should
be commended for their continued participation in this
program.
