President Capotosto called the meeting to order at 10: 1
5 a.m. In attendance were Sarah MacGregor, Robert Kent, John
Smith, Alan Gettman, George Christie, Tim Deschamps, Curt Best
and Ray Zucker.
Minutes of the previous meeting held in Northboro, MA on September
29, 1997 were reviewed. Motion to accept was made by Robert Kent,
seconded by George Christie, accepted.
Treasurer's Report:
In Treasurer David Boyes' absence, John Smith, Chairman of the
Auditing Committee reported on the Association's finances as follows:

Committee Reports:
Program/Proceedings: Sarah MacGregor and John
Smith reported on the following costs on printing for this year's
annual meeting:

Newsletter: George Christie commented on the
support given to him in improving the Association's Newsletter.
Robert Kent and other Executive Board members thanked George for
a job well done. The Board also discussed ways of scaling down
the 350 names on the active mailing list.
Awards: President Capotosto had on display the
Robert L. Armstrong Meritorious Service Award to mosquito control
which will be presented to Normal Dobson. The Board was notified
that Norman would not be attending the conference due to health
problems. Walter Montgomery will give a brief biography at the
banquet on Norm and will accept the award in his behalf.
Scholarships: Sarah MacGregor gave the report of the scholarship committee. There were two applicants for the $ 1 000. Daniel M. Jobbins Scholarship (Abelardo C. Moncayo and Sean P. Healy) and one applicant for the $500 (which would increase with silent auction proceeds) John J. McColgan Grant-in-Aide (Sean P. Healy). After discussion and based on committee recommendations Sarah MacGregor motioned that Abelardo C. Moncayo to be the Jobbins recipient and Sean P. Healy to be the McColgan recipient, seconded by Robert Kent, Alan Gettman cast an abstaining vote on this matter, accepted.
Abelardo, who is with the Department of Entomology, Fernald
Hall, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, has been doin research
on evaluating the potential risk factors for epidemic (i.e. horse
and human) transmission of EEE virus in southeastern Massachusetts.
Sean, who is with the Entomology Department at the University
of Rhode Island has been doing research on the development of
the laboratory system (olfactometer and air purification and conditioning
apparatus) used for testing the olfactory responses of mosquitoes.
Nominating: President Capotosto reported that
the committee would discuss the agenda at the business meeting
at 4:00 p.m. today (December 8, 1997).
Old Business: Curtis Best informed the Board that 11 exhibitors would be using 13 tables at the conference. Generous donations from Clarke and Sandoz were received.
President Capotosto met with the hotel staff to finalize last minute details, a guaranty of 95 for the banquet and 140 for the luncheon.
President Capotosto discussed the annual business meeting and banquet agenda. John Kuschke will be in attendance and he will handle the swearing in of the officers.
John Smith informed the Board that David Lawson from Norfolk County Mosquito control would run the photo salon this year.
The pesticide training certificate of attendance sheets will
be available on a daily basis at the registration desk. President
Capotosto notified the Board that the proposed joint meeting ballots
with the New Jersey Mosquito Control Association would be collected
at the registrations desk and a decision would be made on this
matter later during the meeting.
Motion to adjourn was made by President Capotosto, seconded by John Smith. Meeting
adjourned at 1 1:45 a.m.
